Current & Planned Land Ownership
Port of Seattle
The Port of Seattle currently owns or is in the process of purchasing a substantial portion of the NERA, approximately 40 acres. The Port’s acreage is largely comprised of former single-family residential lots eligible for acquisition under the Airport’s FAA-funded noise buy-out program.

The Port expects to eventually redevelop this acreage with airport compatible commercial and light industrial uses over the next several years after the Port completes acquisition of the eligible residential lots. The Port anticipates completing buy-out of the additional residential lots within the NERA by the end of 2008.

The 26 acres between SR-518 and South 152nd Street are currently owned by the Port (25.5 acres) and by Seattle City Light (.25 acre). The northern 8 acres contain the 162-unit Lora Lake Apartments, which is currently vacant but is planned to be re-populated in 2008.

Other Parcels
Several other parcels are in public ownership. The Highline School District owns nine acres containing a former school building currently used by the Highline-West Seattle Mental Health Center. The center is planning to move from this site to another location in Burien outside of the NERA.

The school district currently has no plans for reuse of the facility. The City of Burien owns 2.6 acres that were purchased for storm drainage purposes. A privately-owned airport parking facility is currently under construction on 9.7 acres north of the Mental Health Center. The remaining 138 parcels (approximately 74 acres) are privately owned by approximately 126 different owners.
